Learn what light actually is and how to create colour at the brand new Lightlab at the Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen, near Eindhoven. Or watch the professionals at the TextielLab at the TextielMuseum in Tilburg and get involved in experiments with fabric. You can even design your own socks or scarf! Perhaps you’d like to know more about the creative process behind shoemaking? The Maaklab in the Schoenenkwartier in Waalwijk gives you an opportunity to greet the shoemakers and watch them as they work! Come and climb at the largest climbing course in the Benelux at Klimbos IJzeren Man in Vught, which has as many as fifteen climbing routes and two zip lines. Klimbos Brabantse Wal in western Brabant has nine different routes and 100 different transitions that go back and forth across this beautiful forest. Alternatively, try the Nieuwe Brandtoren fire tower in Reusel, voted amongst the 40 greatest lookouts in the world! It’s 25 metres high with a 15 metre climbing wall alongside. Another great climb is at the Pompejus watchtower at Fort de Roovere in Halsteren, near Bergen op Zoom. 25 metres high, it offers fabulous views over the Brabantse Wal ridge. The Flaestoren viewing tower in Esbeek is 24 metres high and offers views over Landgoed de Utrecht.

Real thrill seekers can enjoy the Joris en de Draak or Baron 1898 rides at Efteling. Prefer to look for the big five? Just 30 minutes from Efteling is the Beekse Bergen safari park, where you can pretend you’re on safari across Africa. Admire the giraffes, lions and antelope from the comfort of your own car, on foot or relaxing in a boat.

Cycle or wander by the murals, now amounting to more than 100, guided by the app. The most beautiful creations in Eindhoven are best discovered with the Street Art Tour Eindhoven. It’s an ever-changing cycle route that adapts to take in the newest murals. If you’re in Tilburg, Het Muurmuseumwalking route takes you past eight extraordinary works of art on plain old Tilburg city walls. Along the route, you’ll find a satisfying selection of places for a bite to eat and a drink.
