Close to the River Maas, amidst the fields, in the far east of the province of North Brabant, lies St. Agatha Convent. The chapel rises from the landscape, protected by a dyke. Monks have been associated with this spot since 1371 and the Order of the Holy Cross occupies the convent.

The Meuse hedgerows consist of long rows of centuries-old hawthorn and blackthorn hedges. They serve as property boundaries, and their prickly nature also prevents livestock from easily escaping the enclosure.
