About D’n Brouwer:
The van Kilsdonk family lived here since around 1675. They ran a brewery and inn and held various positions on the village council. Three of their descendants became mayors of Zeeland. In 1868, their daughter Johanna Dorothea married Adriaan van de Ven from Son en Breugel. Their son Jos van de Ven took over the business and expanded it significantly. The old house was replaced by the current building in 1903. The brewery was named “de Roode Leeuw.” Jos brewed a special Faro beer that was well-regarded in the area. The recipe was a secret, because during the brewing process, the staff had to step outside for a moment. Jos became mayor of Zeeland and a member of the Provincial Council of North Brabant.
