The rich history of the place can be felt everywhere: the reception is in the annex of a monumental, 17th-century farm and a carriage house has been converted to a pancake restaurant. The friendly owners are happy to tell you all about it. De Uitwijk is the type of welcoming family business that truly puts you, the guest, first.
A tip for your visit: take your hiking shoes with you! The landscape of rivers and polders around De Uitwijk is very inviting. Go on foot to explore the walk along the Steenbergsche Vliet river, the historic Benedensas lock complex or the beautiful bird paradise of the Dintelse Gorzen nature preserve. The more adventurous visitors can step into a Canadian canoe to do some exploring on the water.
With Zeeland just a stone’s throw away, it is also easy to fit in a day trip to the world-famous Delta Works. Outlet shopping is in the other direction, towards Roosendaal.
