You will find our cosy restaurant hidden among the trees at the edge of the forest, where you can enjoy the culinary skills of young chef Mike Kersten. Gaze out across the farmlands with the grazing Highland cattle as you enjoy a coffee, delicious lunch or surprising dinner.

The Loo is a part of Ommel, and also the name of the sandy path on higher ground that connects the Kraneven forest to the village. The Loo is a part of Ommel, and also the name of the sandy path on higher ground that connects the Kraneven forest to the village. The word "Ommel" is derived from 'Omme Loo' which means 'surrounded by forest'. Since 'loo' is the historical Dutch name for a clearing in the forest, it is appropriately named. The idea for the name came to us because the restaurant is built on a natural hill of drifting sand, and because the adjacent convex field was originally named 'Hoogommelsche Akker'.

The restaurant's design was inspired by the famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Built from wood and natural stone as the basic materials, the building is almost entirely made of sustainable and natural materials. Many aspects have been produced with our personal involvement. We wanted the same for our menu: an offering with honest, natural products, featuring ingredients from our own vegetable garden or from the land whenever possible.
