People do not come to Captain Jack’s just for a drink or a bite to eat but for that holiday feeling. Right next the marina of the village of Lage Zwaluwe, Captain Jack’s relaxed atmosphere and its terrace (where you are usually out of the wind) ensure that the hustle and bustle of the day fade away immediately. And then the beauty of this unique freshwater tidal area is revealed. For example, during a ‘Rondje Biesbosch ’, a tour of the Biesbosch, you will go past places like Drimmelen, Geertruidenberg and Werkendam. The tour takes you past these beautiful, historic towns via various ferries and dyke roads. The bicycle ferry ’t Leeuwe Veerke is also recommended, as is the impressive Biesbosch Museum and De Kleine Schans fortifications: a reminder of the Eighty Years’ War and therefore around 400 years old!
A tip for your visit: use Captain Jack’s as a base. As an official Brabant bicycle café, this grand café naturally welcomes many cyclists, who are able to charge their e-bike or repair a flat tyre here. Logically, hikers are just as welcome – to pick up a map of a route, for example. The friendly staff will welcome you with open arms: “The staff is super friendly, and the food here tastes good too. Even in March, it already feels a little like summer here. Pure enjoyment!”
