An Edison Award, a gold CD, many theater tours, TV appearances and a live performance for Nelson Mandela: Slagerij van Kampen has achieved wonderful successes over the past 40 years. They are known as the inspiration of many percussion groups around the world. The typical Van Kampen sound, a unique style of synchronized drumming with unprecedented variations, is based on the style of the legendary Burundi Drummers.

Founder Willem van Kruijsdijk: "Already early on I was impressed by the Burundi Drummers, I must have been about twelve years old when I heard them for the first time. From this unique way of unison drumming emanates an enormous primal force."
