Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble or HBE consists of seven brothers, the sons of jazz trumpeter Phil Cohran (Sun Ra Akestra). In addition to music, spirituality was also instilled in the brothers. Thus, they learned to play the horn from childhood and were instilled with a deep sense of the spiritual connections to music. 

Since the release of their debut album "Flipside" (2004), this band has achieved leading status. They have already collaborated - toured and/or recorded - with an array of artists such as Prince, Gorillaz, Macy Gray, De La Soul, Wu-Tang Clan, Erykah Badu and Yasiin Bey (previously known as Mos Def). Their eclectic sound called ''now music'' or ''Hypnotic'' ranges from hip-hop to jazz to funk to rock.
