De Prullenkast

A unique mix can be found in a farmer’s barn dating from 1650: a British tearoom with home-made delicacies, a vintage shop to browse through and canoe rental for a peaceful trip along the creeks. Charming, amazing and, for generations already, run with love.

Where in the Netherlands can you find a British tearoom, a vintage/second-hand shop, canoe rental and a toy museum in one go? You have to go to the Ruigenhil polder, where you will find one of North Brabant’s most amazing coffee places ever in a farmer’s barn dating from 1650(!): De Prullenkast. During a full afternoon’s programme, you can enjoy the most delicious home-made products in the tearoom. But that does not mean you have to stay sitting down all afternoon: you can browse through the British vintage shop. And if that isn’t active enough, De Prullenkast also offers canoe rental as a remarkable combination. It is even possible to take your high tea with you in the canoe and enjoy the relaxed tranquillity of the creeks. Discover a unique and super-hospitable combination
Visitors are very impressed by the surprising mix of functions. The collection of primarily British vintage products encourages pleasant strolls while the home-made English scones are, according to some British guests, even more delicious than in England! In the informal atmosphere, you feel as though you have been transported to your grandmother’s time, with the matching hospitality. Run by Gonny and her daughter Monique since 2006, with granddaughter Marit almost impossible to remove from the kitchen: the next generation is already reporting for duty …

A tip for your visit: explore the tranquillity of the polder landscape – something that is also possible from the water! It is also inspiring for business guests, who find De Prullenkast to be a wonderful meeting venue. And another thing that is striking: horse-riders ‘park’ their faithful steeds here in the special parking meadow. Although most people, logically, come for the High Tea and the unique shop. And that results in enthusiastic entries such as this one: ‘What an attractive location. ... Every is so fresh and delicious. ... And, as a break, you can shop for new and mostly new things.’
