Behind the pages of music encyclopedias lie thousands of unknown muses and female musicians who inspired composers to create magnificent works. In Renaissance Ferrara, the duke deliberately kept the songs of his 'Concerto delle donne' from the printing presses. Vivaldi's Ospedali women performed for the public - but entered music history anonymously, just like the singers for whom French greats like Boësset and Clérambault tailored their compositions. In Renaissance Ferrara, the duke deliberately kept the songs of his 'Concerto delle donne' from the printing presses. When organist and harpischordist Sébastien Daucé gathered some fellow students from Lyon Conservatory around him, Ensemble Correspondances was born. A unique collaboration thrived between the musicians, with the ultimate goal of uncovering the emotion and expression of lesser-known or unjustly forgotten repertoire.

Since its origins in 2008, the group has focused mainly on French religious music of the 17th century, with a particular focus on the repertoire of Marc-Antoine Charpentier. The ensemble's recordings (Harmonia Mundi) have already managed to snatch some of the finest awards, including the 2014 Choc (Classica), an Echo for World Premiere Recording of the Year 2016 and the 2018 Diapason d'Or.
