Not only was this Luxembourg cellist successful in Bucharest, at the George Enescu Competition:  earlier, he was a prize winner of the Pablo Casals Award in Spain and the Gabrieli Competition in Berlin (second prize). Not only was this Luxembourg cellist successful in Bucharest, at the George Enescu Competition:  earlier, he was a prize winner of the Pablo Casals Award in Spain and the Gabrieli Competition in Berlin (second prize). Let's not forget that in 2022 he won both the first prize, the audience award and the prize for best interpretation of a compulsory work at the Cello Biennale in Amsterdam. So young, and already so successful. Two beautiful Russian cello sonatas adorn his program.

It was the year 1901: Rachmaninoff's resurrection. After a disastrously received premiere of his First Symphony, he fell into depression. Lethargy, apathy, not a single note written - for three years. Hypnosis provided a solution; or was it the charming daughter of his therapist? However, the famous Second Piano Concerto was born, and the cello sonata, also in that delightful, captivating, late-romantic idiom. Prokofiev wrote his cello sonata almost half a century later, in 1949. He had heard the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich play and decided to create something for this great man.
