The centre of attention
Dinee-café Veertien is not only the centrepiece of a protected townscape; it is also the centre of attention during village events. Events such as the fun fair in the first weekend of July, the Toeristendagen (tourist days) in late July and early August, and during the equestrian rally Eersel-Postel-Eersel in October. Veertien also actively participates in the annual music spectacular Bibberblues Kroegenfestival, and when it’s time for the Christmas market its doors are open for guests to warm up with a nice hot drink. Our recommendation on a cold winter’s day: the traditional local drink Schrobbelèr, which will warm you up from the inside out. Served with or without whipped cream!
Plenty to choose from
Guests frequently return, not only for the great atmosphere, but also for the delicious food. With its extensive menu that’s available in several languages and its multilingual staff, Veertien makes international guests feel right at home. If you come by car, you can park for free in the private parking lot at the back (drive in via the supermarket car park). Bicycles, e-bikes and motorcycles can be parked opposite the restaurant.
And if you are interested in local heritage, you will be glad to know the market square is home to a lovely Chapel, built to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1464. For more than three centuries this building has served as a town hall, a prison, and more, but it has now been restored to its former glory as a chapel.
