A Social Sofa is a mosaic-covered bench placed in public spaces, based on an idea by Karin Bruers. These benches—called ‘bènkskes’ in the Brabant dialect—are made of concrete, 2.24 meters long, and shaped like a chaise longue. There are now more than 1,000 across the Netherlands, each one unique. The Asten version was created in 2012 by local primary school students.
