The ‘Butterfly Chapel’ was built using stones from an old German brickworks. The chapel houses a statute of Saint Brigid, the patron saint of livestock. At the rear of the chapel are holes, put there to give insects somewhere to nest.

The decision to create the Butterfly Chapel was no coincidence – in addition to being an organic dairy farmer, Eric Lamers is also a butterfly farmer, the first of his kind in the Netherlands. ‘Butterflies emerge when they get warmth and love. That’s how it works for humans too – everyone emerges from a place of warmth and love.’
