The Rietveld and Ruys heritage is special for several reasons. Rietveld's designs for the factory, clock and bus shelter are quite unlike his other work, and you'll encounter all the highlights during the Rietveld Safari. Everyone in the village knows the guides, armed with their red folder and followed by tourists. Step back in time to the Bergeijk of the 1950s and 60s, when the village was renowned as an 'island of good taste'.
Past and present
During the Rietveldhuis Tour, you'll think you're in 1958. While the house is still inhabited, it still boasts its Spectrum interior, distinctive De Stijl colours and authentic details. If you'd rather wander around on your own, besides the route map you can also download an innovative Rietveld app. After all, despite the cultural and historic splendour of Rietveld and Ruys, you'll still be in one of the smartest and most innovative regions in the world... Tours last an hour and a half to two hours.
