Vlierden forest This nature reserve also goes by the name of Brouwhuis heath or Bikkel forest. The protected juniper bush grows on this sand, producing rock-hard berries. Ghosts The freakish shapes the juniper bush can take the imagination of our ancestors take a high flight. When foggy patches rose from the bush and the clouds glided past the moon, people thought they saw ghosts. The rare sand lizard still lives here.
