What began in 1990 as a 1-hectare asparagus plot for fun, started by Annie van Hoof, has since grown into a progressive and sustainable family business. The business was passed down from mother to her youngest son, Maarten, who now runs it together with his wife, Malou. Van Hoof Zachtfruit & Asperges has been growing asparagus for 30 years, in the sandy soils of Roos, which are perfectly suited for this crop. Our asparagus harvest has not gone unnoticed, as we have been voted twice as the grower of the tastiest asparagus in Brabant. And we are proud of that!

Because Maarten’s heart lies in fruit growing, the first raspberry field was planted in 2004. Soon after, other types of soft fruits follow, such as blueberries, red currants, and blackberries. In addition to the fresh, daily-harvested fruits mentioned above, we also offer products made from them, such as jam, jelly, and fruit juices. We sell our products with heart and soul at our farm shop located at Roest 2a in Olland. We have everything you need to complete your healthy seasonal meal. From our selection of asparagus wines to new potatoes or meats from the local artisan butcher. We’ll peel your asparagus if you’d like. In June 2020, we launched a pilot project. We covered a 1,300-square-meter blackberry field with solar panels. The solar panels serve a dual purpose. Not only do they generate green energy, but they also protect our fruit from harsh weather conditions such as sun, rain, hail, and wind. Previously, this was done using plastic rain covers. If this proves successful, we will expand to 10 hectares of solar panels—that’s 40,000 panels.
