Sheep maintenance 
The Strabrechtse Heide is also home to a flock of 350 Kempen heath sheep, who roam the
Strabrechtse Heide accompanied by the shepherd. Their presence plays an important part in
maintaining the heathland. By eating grass and other plants they prevent the heather from becoming
overgrown.
