VERLIES | LOSS -Pennings Foundation
Losing a loved one has a profound impact on people. Drawing on their own experiences or the personal stories of others, Wiosna van Bon, Rick van der Klooster, Pippilotta Yerna, and Martin and Inge Riebeek explore how a sense of absence, memory, and grief take shape.

'Before The Silence' is the project in which Wiosna van Bon investigates how others—like herself—have experienced the loss of a parent to suicide. Following his mother’s death, Rick van der Klooster returned to the mountains where his family used to go on holiday and hike. In 'Between the Mountain and the River', the landscape serves as a vessel for memory and grief. Pippilotta Yerna presents her monumental triptych 'Pietà', which centers on the intense, loving relationship she shared with her great-aunt. Martin & Inge Riebeek show a series of short video portraits focusing on the loss of a family member or loved one; these portraits are part of the series 'The Essential'.
