Summer holiday in het preHistorisch Dorp

Time to delve into history! At the PreHistorisch Dorp (Prehistoric Village), you'll experience a day full of real adventures this summer holiday. In this open-air museum in Eindhoven, you'll travel from prehistory to the late Middle Ages, past historic farms, the smoke of fires, crafts in workshops, and historical residents who will join you for all sorts of activities.

Historical Activities

Learn archery, solve a Roman puzzle, play a medieval game, or bake your own bread – it's all possible this summer. The historical residents will create an unforgettable journey into the past. Throughout the museum, there's something to do, learn, or discover about the Stone Age, the early Middle Ages, and much more. The smells, sounds, and stories will transport you back to a distant past…

A day at the PreHistorisch Dorp is educational, active, and above all: very enjoyable. Perfect for curious children, adventurous parents, and families looking to escape screen time.

New: the search for the bronze bead

This summer, you'll truly step into the shoes of a time traveler. Upon arrival at the museum, you'll receive a time traveler's necklace: your key to the past. By completing various historical activities, you'll discover how we, as humans, gradually learned what we know today in modern times. These include making fire, grinding grain, archery, and making a cloak pin. For each skill you master, you'll earn a bead. Collect them all and watch your necklace grow!

But... keep an eye out, because several mysterious master time travelers are also roaming the museum, each with a bronze bead. These individuals have managed to master all the skills and have thus obtained a bronze bead. With this bead, they can stay in the past. Will you create something special or contribute a creative project to these master time travelers? Then you'll have a chance to win a bronze bead and four free tickets for the 2025 season, so you can come back again!

Every day: Puppet show

Every day at 12:00 and 16:00, there are puppet shows where there's always laughter, screams, and a roar! Our historic residents create an unforgettable show full of humor. The hand-painted puppet theater is located in the medieval market square: take a seat on the benches and enjoy!

Activity booklet

Are you visiting during the summer holidays? Then you'll receive a free activity booklet. In the booklet, you'll find all the information you need to complete your visit to our museum. Because where are you actually allowed to bake a roll? And where can you find the archer? It's all in the booklet! Stories about historical figures guide you through all kinds of activities and special things you can see or do in the Prehistoric Village. The booklet is also chock-full of puzzles you can complete at home or in the museum. You can take the activity booklet home with you after your visit. Perfect for reminiscing about your time travel!

August 23 & 24: Medieval Fair

Are you visiting us on the weekend of August 23 & 24? Then it's one big party in our museum! Medieval folk come from far and wide to the Prehistoric Village for the Medieval Fair. During this event, artisans from all over will be ready to serve you with their authentic wares. The market also offers plenty of entertainment: you can enjoy knights, jugglers, musicians, storytellers, a jester, and other unique folk from the Middle Ages. Tickets for the Medieval Fair are €16.50 in advance online.

Opening Hours and Prices

The Prehistoric Village is open daily during the summer holidays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except Monday, August 18 and 25. Tickets are €13.50 each and are available both online and at the ticket office.
