Why can one person eat a Madame Jeanette chilli while another finds even ketchup hot? Is it habituation or hypersensitivity? Spicy is a pain trigger for your taste buds. It is a fact that the number of taste buds decreases drastically as you get older. That is why it is important to train them and keep them sharp. Cabaret artist Rob Scheepers does this in his new programme “Op z'n scherpst” - he stimulates your humour, puts you on edge and challenges you to explore the limits of your taste. Decide for yourself whether you find it really spicy, or whether your neglected taste buds are just reacting a bit hypersensitively.
