Len Creutzburg

During the residency, Len Creutzburg will focus on creating large-scale spatial works. His starting point is his Indonesian family history, rooted in the Japanese occupation of Indonesia. He explores how trauma is passed down through generations and how healing and the rewriting of identity are possible. His starting point is personal, yet it touches on today's current events, where war, displacement, and collective trauma are palpable worldwide. The work invites the viewer to reflect on the layers of our deepest being and on the traces that past, present, and future leave in the body.

Creutzburg is fascinated by how humans are shaped by their environment, upbringing, and intergenerational transmissions. His work depicts an inner ecology in which identity is constantly in flux. The body functions as a living archive, mutable and porous, where memory, conditioning, and transformation converge. Creutzburg's work consists of sculptures, installations, and performance lectures. The sculptures form a growing network that connects to existing architectural elements, allowing the work to blend seamlessly with its surroundings.

The works created during this residency will be exhibited in a solo exhibition at Galerie Nasty Alice in July 2026.
