Organ music by Jean-Pierre Steijvers (Roermond)

Jean-Pierre Steijvers studied organ, piano, and church music as his main subjects at the Maastricht Conservatory and the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He was a prize winner at organ competitions in Dublin, Lucerne, Chartres, and Kaliningrad, and the winner of the Moscow Philharmonic Society Special Award.

Since May 2004, he has been appointed Organiste-Titulaire of St. Christopher Cathedral in Roermond and of the Louvigny/Robustelly/Verschueren organ in the Carolus Chapel of the former Grand Seminary of the Diocese of Roermond. Additionally, he teaches organ, piano, and music theory at ECI Cultuurfabriek in Roermond.

He gives many concerts in Europe, Japan, and the USA, as well as in the most important concert halls throughout Russia. He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Ed Spanjaard, Vladimir Askenazy, Edo de Waart, Paul Goodwin, Rizzi Brignoli, and Kynan Johns. Furthermore, he is the artistic advisor of the Roermond Organ Circle Foundation and has been since 2017. In Russia, he is a teacher at The Moscow Gnessin Summer School and has won the “The Organist of the Year Award”.

He is also the conductor of the Sint Martinus Choir and the Weerter Men's Choir.
