Three generations of Van Iersel are brought together for the first time in a major exhibition. During the summer recess, Gerard (1934), Rik (1961), and Joshua (1986) van Iersel—grandfather, father, and son—are presenting work in a single exhibition spanning a period of over 60 years.

In Three of a Kind, a selection of paintings, drawings, collages, animated films, and spatial works is on display. Attention is paid to each artist individually, but curator Rob Schoonen is also looking for that famous ‘Van Iersel artist gene’. What makes this Eindhoven family so special, what are the similarities or common ground, and where does the art of one come close to that of the other?
