Back to Roman times
About 50 years before Christ, the Romans conquered many countries, including part of the Netherlands. This changed a lot: new tastes emerged, roads were built and houses were built of stone. Historical activities in the preHistoric Village take you back to Roman times and show you what that influence looked like in the Netherlands. Moreover, there are many residents from this period who can tell you more about their special lives. For example, visit the masseur, the soldier or the chef!

Buildings from Roman times
The preHistoric Village contains various reconstructions of Roman buildings that stood in the Eindhoven region during the Roman Empire. For example, a gatehouse that the Romans used as a watchtower to keep an eye on the surroundings. Or a work shed where special crafts are practiced. In the Roman herb garden you can find all the special scents that the Romans brought with them to the Netherlands. Finally, in the museum you will also find the Runderhoeve, a native Roman house that contains many Roman elements. This way you feel like you're in a different time!
