This cosy and friendly forest café has been a household name in the region for almost a century and a half. With a playground and maze, not only is this a great resting place for cyclists and hikers but it is also an ideal place for the whole family. Grab a spot at the outdoor café in the forest of Achtmaal and enjoy the peace and quiet. The antique decor reinforces the old-fashioned hospitality that we know from our grandparents’ time. Furthermore, ’t Pannehûske has plenty of entertainment for groups with both Old Dutch and Flemish games, covered wagon rides, scooter puzzle tours, BBQs and winter Trappist beer tastings. As they have their own association, you can even follow a crossbow workshop! Or you could join a harmonica workshop, so that you leave this charming café as the famous Belgian jazz musician, Toots Thielemans.

Forested fun
Herberg ’t Pannehûske is situated on the Wallsteijn country estate: gorgeous surroundings you really ‘must’ explore. This is extremely easy with a GPS tour. Back at the café you can charge your electric bike, while you enjoy the vast selection of beers and Trappist beers, a delicious pancake, a bountiful drinks platter or a cup of coffee with the well-known apple pie with honey, walnuts, slivered almonds and raisins. ‘The best apple pie in Brabant’ according to a previous guest. We bet once you have visited you will be back soon.
The nearby cycle path means the café is easily accessible by bike. Coming by car, you drive the last 100 metres on a well-maintained sandy road.

First Barony Gate in Brabant
Barony Gates enclose the exceptional cultural historical places and valuable natural landscapes in The Barony. Befitting the authentic original atmosphere, ’t Pannehûske was the first. You can ask the multilingual staff anything about the other cultural historical country estates in the Municipality of Zundert: the birthplace of Vincent van Gogh! Beside stunning natural scenery, here you will find many Van Gogh hiking and cycling routes.
