This natural swimming pool (its name translates as “the splashing pool”) plus lunchroom plus pub is the ideal place for families with young children who want to combine a day at a sandy and grassy beach with a hike or bike ride through the incredibly green surroundings. But that’s not all; you can also end the day with a drink from the surprisingly extensive beer menu. The pub is famed by cyclists in the area; you can enjoy "The best coffee I've had in ages" (according to a very enthusiastic guest) before, during or after your trip. The pool, set in the woods between the village of Hooge Mierde and the Belgian border, has provided families with wonderful days out for over 50 years.

Ideal place for cyclists and amblers
De Spartelvijver is not only an ideal place to stop during a trip through the natural surroundings, but also a very suitable start or end of an exploration of the Brabant countryside. Places to explore nearby include estate De Utrecht - with its golf course, marshes, heathlands, stream valley and myrtle swamp - where you have a truly magnificent view from the Flaestoren tower. De Spartelvijver has mapped out various cycling and walking routes for guests to use free of charge. The walking routes vary from just over 7 to about 19 kilometres; the cycling routes from 40 to almost 60 kilometres. And while the playground and swimming pond attract many visitors, especially in warm weather, the informal, characteristic pub is open all year round for a delicious lunch or a refreshing drink.

"What a unique location!"
The beer list features more than 50 (artisanal) beers from the Netherlands and elsewhere. But it’s also the right place for a classic cocktail, a lovingly brewed cup of coffee or tea and a tasty lunch made with local produce. In good weather you can enjoy the fantastic view from the lovely outdoor seating area - south facing! It’s the best view for miles around. And if you prefer to sit in the shade, the many trees around the water offer plenty of it.

Brabant Bicycle Café
De Spartelvijver is an official Brabants Fietscafé; a Brabant Bicycle Café. In these bicycle cafés, cyclists are made to feel especially welcome! You can stop by for a delicious bite to eat or a refreshing drink, and make use of facilities such as a repair kit, bicycle pump and e-bike charging station.
