In Kunsthal Helmond a large part of the Roef-Meelker collection can be seen from 22 September 2018 to 17 March 2019. This art collection was donated in 2001 by the late Mr Pieter Roef Sr. to the municipality of Helmond. It includes works of art by top artists such as Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, André Masson and Barbara Hepworth. The main trends within the Roef-Meelker collection are Ecole de Paris and Cobra, both made around the middle of the twentieth century.
In addition, in the same presentation room, the museum shows some works by the Helmond artist Bert Loerakker, who turns 70 this year. In this modest tribute to Bert Loerakker, his love for the landscape, among other things, manifests itself both figuratively and abstractly in lake hatches. He also published a luxurious book edition with a retrospective of his oeuvre. Museum Helmond recently enriched the collection with a painting by Bert Loerakker.
